Business Analytics Intern

The Chicago Blackhawks are seeking a curious and self-starting individual to operate as our Business Analytics Intern for the full 2019-20 NHL season. This position is expected to provide analytical and strategic support for multiple departments in the Blackhawks organization, including Ticketing, Sponsorship and Digital Content. The primary focus of this role will be creating and maintaining reports, growing the ticket and sponsorship sales databases, and applying statistical modeling techniques to project success of various business initiatives. A successful applicant will not only have a strong technical and analytical foundation, but also possess effective communication skills to engage different audiences and collaborate with our external partners to further develop the organization’s data strategy.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop ongoing and ad-hoc reporting for a wide-range of topics, such as ticket sales, attendance, and digital content performance
Cultivate an understanding of the Blackhawks’ various data sources and data infrastructure
Analyze business performance and identify opportunity areas for improvement
Help create and analyze fan surveys to provide actionable insights
Manage the delivery of digital sponsor ads on Blackhawks.com and the Blackhawks mobile app
Conduct Blackhawks fan base and prospective sponsor research to better position both internal and sponsored marketing opportunities
Work with various departments to improve on data collection practices and strategy
Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field
Proficiency with Business Intelligence tools, Tableau preferred
Experience with relational databases and SQL
Knowledge of various mathematical modeling techniques a plus
